What are your thoughts on parents who push gender roles on their children?

Examples: Not letting girls cut their hair ,wear pants  or play with "boy" toys,not letting boys play dolls or have long hair

How important is it for you to have your kids play with "gender appropriate" toys? If you feel like it's not a big deal, would you be OK with your daughter playing with toy weapons? Your son playing with Barbies? Does your opinion depend on what age your kids are?

OK, so I was reading this post and it got me thinking.
